Fernunfurling was made using a strong forged framework in steel, rendered with cement with mosaic tiles and glass inserts in the heart of the spirals.
The metal base is just buried under the surface, so the sculpture sits securely on grass and other surfaces and can be pegged down or concreted in for further stability.
