About the Artist
Francesca Dimond was first introduced to sculpting with steel in the metal work-shop whilst studying for a degree in sculpture. Her interest began with forging and has developed to include many different techniques, working with all kinds of metals and materials.
Over the last 25 years she has developed her own way of creating scultpures.. Bringing together the fascination with forging and metalworking, and her experience of incorporating other complimentary materials such as cement, glass and mosaics has resulted in many commissions for sculptures, furniture, lighting and architectural work. As well as work being collected privately, she has exhibited her work in galleries and outdoor sculpture exhibitions both in the UK and abroad.
Many sculptures and drawings have been influenced by a love of
plants, trees, organic forms, animals, the human form, stories, and drawings. Her surroundings have often influenced her work. Living in
the beautiful area of South Hams in Devon has recently led to sculptures and drawings inspired by seagulls and beacons and
her recent work has more of a coastal theme.
Francesca is experienced in teaching art in many different areas for adults and children. Courses have included - sculpture, forge work and metalworking techniques, jewellery, painting and drawing, and life drawing.
As well as sculpting, life drawing is another passion and her free and spontanious drawings mostly executed in conte crayon show how talented an artist she is. As an experienced teacher (with an 'outstanding' report) her enthusiasm and knowledge of the subject has inspired many others both studying Art and amateur Artists alike.
Website design - Francesca regularly designs websites for fellow artists, and teaches advanced and beginners courses in Website Design.. If you are interested in commissioning a website or in creating and updating your own website please use the contact page.
